With Labor Day over, I can officially wish everyone a Happy Fall! Break out the pumpkin spice flavors while I get my hopes up for the Ravens’ Super Bowl run again this year (sorry to all you Philadelphia readers, this is Baltimore’s year). It is also time to reflect on the exciting summer that Terrain has had, which included welcoming new employees, a successful summer internship and receiving approvals on many of our key projects.

We kicked off the season by hiring two full-time employees in our Engineering Department, Brian Roche and Edward Chang. Both have proven to be great additions to the Terrain team. We are excited about the potential they bring as our company continues to grow!

This summer, we were also fortunate to bring back our summer intern, Anna Dhima. This is Anna’s second summer with us. During her first internship, she exceeded every expectation we had. So this time around, we raised the bar and really put her to the test. She designed commercial and residential projects first-hand and learned all the different aspects of civil engineering for land development projects. For her final summer internship task, Anna reflected on her experience at the office:

“To sum up my time at Terrain in just a few sentences would be a disservice to the experience and knowledge I have gained in the past year. My journey at Terrain began just last summer, as a fresh high school graduate aspiring to a career in civil engineering. As a full-time student at the University of Maryland, I immersed myself in my academic endeavors and came back to Terrain during my winter and summer breaks. With the help of several of my coworkers, most notably Kelly McCormick , P.E., I went from not knowing how to use Autodesk Civil 3D to working on full-scale commercial and residential projects on preliminary, grading and site development plans. These experiences have been invaluable to my journey into civil engineering. I am eternally grateful to Terrain and my coworkers for mentoring me and providing opportunities to learn and grow as a civil engineer.”

We made our summer a little brighter by wrapping up several major projects, including three subdivisions, all under the leadership of Stacy Kimmet. The team also secured numerous grading permits on waterfront properties, subdivisions and residential lots located throughout Anne Arundel and Annapolis.

Overall, a successful summer can be attributed to the dedication and hard work of the Terrain team. Now, Go Ravens!
