Terrain & Howell Engineering

Our affiliation began in 2006 with a concept for a home on property in Annapolis, MD.

At the time, Denny L. Howell, PE called on the expertise of Roy Little, PE. He knew Terrain Inc., working within their community, would be vital in steering through the required variances, state wetlands authorizations and conservation easements, to earn the right to build. Fortunately for our companies, what should have taken months took years.

Quite literally, the next 17 years required the collaboration of both Professional Engineers on the project rife with digressions and delays. Their persistence in making a case together gave them several opportunities to recognize a high degree of moral and ethical standards in one other.

By 2022, the Annapolis home was approved and built, while that single lot plan had succeeded in fostering a strong business relationship and friendship. The resolution of Engineering, Zoning and Environmental concerns, along with opposition from community activists, spanned nearly two decades, during which time their individual firms had grown significantly.

As Roy began planning an exit strategy for himself, in a thoughtful and logical next step, he now approached Denny for his knowledge and experience. Based in West Chester, PA, since 1999, Howell Engineering, through the acquisition of Terrain, will continue working with Roy and his team in a shared tradition of sound engineering to expand throughout the Annapolis and Chesapeake Bay Area.
