As you’ve heard me say many times, relationships are the key to efficient engineering plans- knowing what to recommend, on good advisement while maneuvering through the approval process. For the most optimal timeline, I’ve always counted on the accelerated expertise within the network of our firms.
At the same time, seems like every civil project has multiple outliers, areas of the plan that require outside capabilities whether it be land use law, construction services or brokerage and marketing related specialties.
For more than 25 years, when requests for Land Planning and Landscape Architecture have come in, we’ve had the benefit of on staff professionals who could concept and design a project along with an accomplished list of resources to consult when needed.
As Howell and Nave Newell have evolved together, we’ve been assessing our true capabilities. Together we have the depth of experience to address a wide range of services in house. We’re growing stronger every month with the continuous addition of professionals in all sections of the company. Young engineers being mentored, earning licensure and stretching as they work alongside our senior staff. Surveyors equipped with the newest, state-of-the-art technology and resources at their fingertips. Environmental and Phase 1 assessments being performed with data gained by our own key staff, and our drilling team, with machinery and experience that very few companies in the region have in house. Further strengthened by having our experienced construction stakeout teams bring the projects to life. It’s really an exciting time.
With four (RLA) Registered Landscape Architects and two Landscape Designers working under the leadership of Paul Lepard, Jr. RLA, PP, our Director of Land Planning and Landscape Architecture, we have decided to focus our efforts on more than just engineering and surveying.
With a combined 80+ years of experience, we have the capability and know how to address many different projects including those well beyond the ones that typically come through our doors. Land Planning, Landscape Architecture and Planting Design will now become another one of our primary disciplines.
The difference is, this team is uniquely aware of the realities of how projects flow and more importantly what they cost. They are increasingly familiar with the constraints that can impact a site’s developability. Their design point of view is rooted in engineering guidelines and concerns, coupled with the creative know how that makes a project unique. In short, they deliver beautiful, buildable plans, designed to thrive.
