When we opened in West Chester in 1999, our focus was Engineering, Surveying and Environmental projects for local and national home builders, national commercial developers, and big box retail centers. Projects included Single and Multi-family Residential Developments, Higher Education & K-12 Schools, Mixed-Use and Industrial Projects, with smaller assignments in Commercial Offices, Retail, Utilities and Golf & Country Clubs.
While the economy fluctuated, especially during our early years, Howell focused on providing cost effective building direction, using the best available technology and the strength of our relationships. During the ensuing 25 years, our team has solidified multiple partnerships within the communities and townships we serve. Keeping aware of regulations and knowing the sensitivities of boards and their decision makers allowed us to keep projects moving through all stages of approval.
We focused on finding the best and brightest individuals for our team and equipping them with the knowledge and tools to advance. The range and variety of Engineering, Surveying and Environmental projects would naturally create collaborative opportunities for employees at every level at Howell.
Along the way, our design processes improved exponentially through technology. AutoCAD, state of the art survey instrumentation and 3D modeling have widely increased our accuracy and efficiency. We continue to create efficient plans in compliance with the most current laws and regulations. We equip clients with the knowledge they need, with fewer change orders and on-site complications once construction starts.
As we saw opportunities to extend to more municipalities throughout the tri-state area, we maintained Howell’s legacy of creating relationships and sharing expertise.
At the same time, we were able to concentrate on the services we offer in greater depth. For example, Howell Surveying is currently one of the largest survey companies in the tri-state area with a staff of more than 30. We offer Automated Monitoring for a host of Surveying Service Applications. Our Environmental services offer Geotechnical Drilling capabilities. Each department growing through the projects we complete and services we offer.
The strength of the expanded Howell company today now lies in the increased range of project sectors, the expertise of our employees, and opportunities for continued expansion using advanced technology.
Our applied efficiencies in Engineering, Surveying and Environmental projects will continue to grow the size and scope of projects going forward. Experience in all levels of construction development and a high-level of responsiveness to our clients will remain part of our services along with the capacity of our team to run multiple projects at once.
In 2024, we now have more than 100 people in the firm. From a client standpoint and from a recruiting standpoint, we’re celebrating our 25th Anniversary from a position of strength.
