After months of working through West Chester Borough, 330 West Market Street received Final Land Development Approval. Howell worked closely with the project team, including Eli Kahn of E. Kahn Development, Bernardon Architects, Brian Nagle, Project Attorney, and John Wichner, Traffic Engineer. The project is the vision of Eli Kahn, who transformed Mitch’s Gym and then purchased all the remaining properties between Potter Alley and South Wayne Street. Eli joined forces with Bernardon Architects to develop a multi-story apartment building following the Borough HO-60 Guidelines for development in the Town Center District.

Once the blocking diagram and floorplans were complete, Eli contacted Howell to survey the property and start engineering the site. Howell was challenged with designing a subsurface stormwater management system that fit in between the structural supports. The system, called an MRC (Managed Release Concept), would also have to meet all NPDES requirements since the project area disturbed more than 1 acre. Howell also worked with the Borough Staff and Committees to refine all the exterior design features, including ADA crosswalks, sidewalks, landscaping, lighting, and public amenities.

After all the planning, design, and coordination with West Chester Borough, the Borough Council gave final approval on March 20th. Construction of this exciting project is scheduled to begin in early fall... stay tuned for updates!
