The start of a new year is a great time plan as we keep moving forward. It’s a special year for America, and specifically the greater Philadelphia area, as we celebrate the country’s 250th anniversary. As the birthplace of our great nation, Philadelphia will be a busy place to visit throughout the year. Many people will travel to see the special events planned for the Museum of the American Revolution and the National Constitution Center.
On top of the historical events, get set for a multitude of other major events nearby during 2026.
This spring, Xfinity Mobile Arena (previously the Wells Fargo Center) will host games for the NCAA Men’s Basketball March Madness tournament from March 20-22. These will be the first and second rounds of the prestigious tournaments where upsets are bound to happen, so excitement will be at an all-time high!
Just outside of Philadelphia, in Delaware County, Aronimink Golf Club will host the PGA Championship from May 11-17. The club hosted the Women’s PGA Championship in 2020, and it is expected to attract 200,000 fans to watch the best compete for the title.
Most newsworthy for global sports, Philadelphia is one of the host cities for the FIFA World Cup 26. It’s the first World Cup on American soil since 1994. For the first time, 48 countries will compete instead of the standard 32. Lincoln Financial Field will host 5 group-stage matches, as well as a Round of 16 match on July 4th!
The Major League Baseball All-Star weekend will also be hosted by Citizens Bank Park from July 11-14. This will include the Home Run Derby as well as the All-Star Game, bringing some of the game's largest stars to our great city! The All-Star village will also be held at the Philadelphia Convention Center throughout the weekend, a large fan festival with events for all ages.
This year will be great for Philadelphia. A yearlong plan of events is designed to share the interesting things to do in our city with our fellow countrymen and the world!
Here’s to 2026!!!
