As a car enthusiast, I was very excited to be invited to work on this project. Back in the summer of 2022, I was approached by Mark Myers, R.A., to provide civil engineering and land surveying for Big Road, LLC and 3 Dog Garage. Mark explained the project had received a variance for a private custom automotive restoration and preservation facility. The project was located at 3045 Big Road in Upper Frederick Township and needed land development approval. He also explained that the development of this property was a vision of the owner, Ross Myers, who owns 3 Dog Garage, a non-profit historic vehicle museum in Boyertown, PA. The property would be developed and used to restore rare antique and classic vehicles, including fabrication of obsolete parts. Mark expressed the owner's passion for this project and that they needed an engineering firm like Howell to help secure approvals in a timely manner.
Howell worked with Mark and the design team to refine the site plan and submit formal Land Development Plans to Upper Frederick Township. Conditional Use Approval, NPDES and PADOT HOP Permits were also required as part of the submission process. Recently, the project received a recommendation of approval for both the Conditional Use and Land Development from the Planning Commission and final approval is expected in early fall.
We are very fortunate to be a part of the design team and to work on this visionary project. If you have a chance, visit www.3dog.org to learn more about the history of 3 Dog Garage, and also visit www.knowhowell.com to view the ongoing challenging projects Howell Engineering is working on.
